About Emerald Benefits - The preservers of love and removers of heartache.

"Emerald green" is a ubiquitous color because it is reflective of the most beautiful rare green gem stone, the emerald. Its color is so intense that the name "emerald green" stirs up images of the world's most beautiful tropical waters. In fact, the name "emerald" originally comes from the Sanskrit word marakata, meaning "green".

The emerald is associated with the goddess Venus, and is said to preserve love. If you are concerned about your partner remaining faithful, giving him or her an emerald is said to prevent indiscretions. In some cultures emeralds were said to be stones that enable prophecy, while in other cultures they were said to bring reason adn wisdom to their bearer (and perhaps those are the qualities that enable prophecy). The emerald's mystical power is said to be strongest in the Spring.

Emeralds are said to have healing properties for the physical heart as well as the emotional heart. Indeed, emotional stress takes its toll on the physical body, but emeralds relieve that stress, allowing healing to occur.
If you are living with the fear of losing your partner's affection, and with the accompanying stress, the deep and vivid healing green of the emerald may soothe your heartache while it works to preserve your love.

The proper name for the emerald is beryl, but there are different colors of beryl. Emerald Green is the color as well as the stone. When blue is added to the green, the beryl is known as Aquamarine. Pink beryl is morganite, yellow beryl is golden beryl, yellow-green beryl is heliodor. There is also a red beryl, but it is quite rare.

An emerald of the right shade of green can be more valuable than a diamond. The finest emeralds are found in South America in Colombia, where they have been mined for over 400 years. The gem was a favorite in pre-Columbian Mexico and Peru, where it was cut in intricate designs. The treasure taken back to Spain by early explorers included emeralds.

Good emeralds are the most highly valued of gem stones. India, Zimbabwe, and Australia are minor sources of the natural stones. Synthetic emeralds are also manufactured in Germany, France, and the United States. The Oriental emerald, a different gem, is the transparent green variety of corundum.

A healer may use a ring while the patient lies on his stomach, the healer holding the ring about two inches above the backbone and create small circles, slowly up and down the spine.

A powerful high energy stone, the emerald strengthens the eyes, heart, immune and nervous systems.

The power of the Emerald is highest at the full moon. Some cultures thought the emerald would heal any disease of the eye. The emerald would be placed in a container of water overnight and the water would be poured on the eyes the next day.

Fact about the Birth-Stone Aquamarine Gemstone.Found primarily in Columbia and Brazil, aquamarine is a lovely blue-green or turquoise colored gem stone that is commonly used in jewelry. Its name comes from the Latin words for sea and water, due to its color which is reminiscent of the ocean. Aquamarine gem stones have a long history, with them said to first be found in the treasure chests of mermaids, according to ancient legend. Even today, aquamarines are considered the lucky gemstones of sailors at sea, that will protect them from the hazards of life on the ocean. It is also said to protect against unseen forces such as malevolent spirits, the evil eye, and the spread of gossip in your absence.

Like the gem stone amethyst, aquamarine is thought to be a purifying stone that improves circulation and mental awareness. And similar to amazonite it has a soothing effect on the brain and nervous system, relieving emotional stress. The removal of this stress improves personal relationships and physical health in turn.

Amazonite's soothing effect also makes it an ideal stone for meditation, as it reduces external distractions and allows the holder to focus on the internal. Similarly, it inspires creativity and artistic flow, since emotional stress and anxiety can inhibit creative output. And naturally, it reduces fears and increases courage, since most fears are irrational emotional reactions caused by stress and anxiety.

Pure opal is colorless, but pure opal is virtually unheard of and impurities are what give opal its various colors, ranging from black to red to blue.

It wards off the evil eye and protects those who travel to faraway lands, much as the Middle Eastern "Hamsa" amulet does. It also blocks bad dreams from your psyche, and works to focus your mental capacities and provide motivation and energy.

Its psychological benefits also include increased confidence on a deep level, confidence that is independent of external factors and completely based on understanding your core being. It helps you to realize all the externally anchored beliefs and behaviors you have adopted, and to cast them off in favor of your core self.

Particularly for men experiencing erectile dis-function, the opal is a helpful gemstone that relieves both the mental and physical causes of the problem.

Opal is a hardened silica gel, usually containing between 5-10% water. Therefore it is noncrystalline, unlike most other gemstones. There are two variety: precious opal, which shows flashes of color or iridescence, depending on the angle of viewing and light; then there is common opal whish is often opaque and displays no iridescence. The iridescence of precious opal is caused by the way the structure, or regular arrangement of tiny silica spheres, diffracts light.

Precious opals occur in a great range of color and varieties. White opal, black opal, fire opal, matrix opal, blue opal, Peruvian blue opal, pink opal...this list is extensive.

Scientific Properties:

A non-crystalline stone, it is possible for the opal to dry out and crack. It is a delicate stone, and can have as much as thirty percent of it's body weight in encapsulated water. Moonstone is a gem found mainly in Shri Lanka, Myanmar, India, and Madagascar. It is known to calm your emotions without you having to repress them. Useful for people who keep things bottled up inside to protect themselves, it helps us be in touch with emotions that we are sometimes scared to acknowledge. Said to enhance our feminine side, Moonstone brings us in touch with our intuition, gentleness, and compassion. That does not mean that Moonstone is only useful for women. All men have feminine aspects to them, yet some men are afraid to reveal this, thinking that it will diminish their masculine identity. Moonstone helps them to embrace and control their feminine aspects.

Moonstone is also believed to aid in matters of love and fertility. It is used to aid fertility and child birth, and to regulate the menstrual cycle. Its power is strongest during a full moon. In some cultures it is believed to bring new love into your life, or to reunite lovers after a quarrel. Perhaps Moonstone's ability to balance the emotional and the rational is the source of this power.

If you feel that you are too withdrawn and it is harming your relationships, maybe moonstone would be a great gem stone for you.

The sheen is created by the reflection of light from the internal structure of layers. The layers are thin albite that give the attractive blue, while thicker layers feldspar produce the white color. It's most amazing, and much like the moon!

Moonstone from Shri Lanka, the classical country of origin for Moonstone, shimmers pale blue on almost transparent ground, it's magical! Specimens from India show cloud like plays of light and shade on beige brown, green, orange or simple brown background. These subdued colors in combination with the fine shine make Moonstone an ideal gemstone for jewelry with a sensuous and feminine character.

This gemstone was once before extremely popular, about a hundred years ago in the times of Art Nouveau. It used to decorate a striking number of pieces of jewelry pieces created by the famous French Master Goldsmith René Lalique and by his contemporaries. Associations: Moon

Mystical Birthstone for the Month of June

Stone of Cancer, Libra and Scorpio

Moonstone has a positive influence on Cancer while a bluish moonstone is more effective for Pisces. Because of the way it travels thru the Zodiac, Moonstone is also considered a protective stone while traveling, especially at night or on the water.

Chakra Classification:
Moonstone is most beneficial on the 2nd, or Sacral/Navel Chakra, for most, but it also connects 2nd, or Sacral/Navel Chakra and 6th, or Third Eye/Brow Chakra for emotional balance and gracefulness.

It is, as well, used to balance the 4th, or Heart Chakra, in helping us discern what we want and what we need...as they do not come from the same place. Moonstone can assist you in absorbing those necessary things in life, while helping you discern what is merely wanted.

Moonstone will help achieve a balance between heart and mind without losing the gentleness and caring needed, yet keep the emotions in check to allow you to function properly.
